Sakai Mission Church has started an English (with Chinese/Japanese interpretation) worship service in Sakai City. Our mission is to equip our members, so that we can go and make disciples of all nations.
If you are staying in or visiting Sakai City, we would love to have you join us at service 13:00 on Sundays. Our weekly worship service consists of praise, worship, sharing of the Word and prayers.
On weekdays, we conduct various bible-study classes and discipleship classes, so that we can grow together in our walk with our Lord Jesus.
We strongly believe in the power of prayer. If you have any burden or prayer request, please let us know and we will pray for you.
Pastor Kathy Hirata Tay
Kathy, a Singaporean and sponsored missionary of Bukit Panjang Methodist Church, has been serving in Japan since 1995. She studied and trained at Singapore Bible College, Cary Bible College, OMF, and Youth for Christ, equipping her
to serve as a fisherman for Christ.
Over the years, she has planted four mission stations in Osaka, Kobe, Hiroshima, and Kyushu. She served with the Osaka International Church ladies’ group for 10 years, and is currently leading a Bible study group on Fridays. She also
leads a cell group on Sundays in Sakai City, Osaka, where she is currently based.
In addition to her mission work, teaching English and engaging in community outreach are part of her passion and calling. She founded a community volunteer school for foreigners living in Sakai City, providing Japanese language education
and support for integration into society.
For her contributions, she has been honored with several appreciation awards from various government bodies, including the Minister of Health and Labor, the Osaka Mayor, and the Sakai Mayor, in recognition of her impact on community
development and intercultural support.
Every summer and winter, she organizes English lessons for children, which also creates opportunities to connect with their mothers. Through these gatherings, she shares the Gospel, builds relationships, and encourages parents to pray
for their children, pointing them to Jesus not just in education, but in family life and faith.
Besides local ministry, Kathy also hosts church and public mission groups from overseas. Through her hospitality and coordination, these short-term mission teams are given the opportunity to experience firsthand the privilege of serving
in the field, working alongside local ministries and gaining deeper insight into cross-cultural mission work in Japan.
